What Types of Pendulums Are There?
There are many different types of pendulums that serve different purposes. No matter the type, the overall purpose of a pendulum is to give insight into a decision needing to be made, an answer to a question, or guidance. If you have never used a pendulum before, this guide discussing what a pendulum is is a great starting point. Now, on to the types of pendulums that exist.
Energy Healing Pendulums
Pendulums are great tools of divination that can be used to assist in spiritual healing. When using the correct pendulum for energy healing, a pendulum can help detect a blockage in your energy body and help realign it. Pendulums can be useful for chakra balancing, aura cleansing, amplifying chi (life force) in the body, and grounding.
How to choose a pendulum for energy healing?
First, it is important to know that you do not choose a pendulum necessarily… it chooses you. A pendulum will call to you, you will feel something when you see it, or you get a sense about it. That is how you know that is the right pendulum for you. That said, if you are using a pendulum for energy healing, ones made of copper may be useful. Copper is known to conduct, balance and amplify healing energies. You may consider having chakra stones in your pendulum to help align the chakras or if you know a specific chakra that may need some work, choosing a stone that aligns with that chakra. For example, rose quartz is a stone that has the same frequency as the heart chakra, so it may help you align or amplify that chakra. Similarly, Indian rosewood (also known as Sheesham) is a material associated with the heart chakra and also with healing with compassion so it could be very supportive in matters of the heart.
Divination Pendulums
When using a pendulum for divination – in other words, Divine guidance and insight – you may want to consider pendulums that have stones like quartz crystal. This stone conducts, transforms and amplifies the energies of higher intelligence, your higher self, and guides. What matters as much as the stones you choose is what questions you ask your pendulum. If you are not clear on the types of questions, you may want to review this guide.
Merkabah Pendulums
The Merkabah (also spelled ‘Merkaba’) pendulum is said to incorporate sacred geometry into the design of the pendulum to unify your body, soul and the Divine. The union of these three creates an energetic field called The Merkabah Effect which creates a path of higher vibration which allows you to be your highest and best self. When choosing a Merkabah pendulum, look for pendulums with the sacred geometry of two triangles overlaid on each other inside of a circle. It also looks like a six-pointed star inside of a circle.
Dowsing Pendulums
A dowsing pendulum is really no different than any of the pendulums mentioned above. It is another name for it all, synonymous with using a pendulum for divination. Historically, dowsing pendulums were used to locate hidden resources like water or minerals and they were made by tying a rock or stone to the end of a string or a chain. In modern days, instead of using a pendulum to locate water or minerals, they are used to locate answers to questions and to access higher intelligence to do so.
